In mid 2023, Transport for NSW (TfNSW) deployed Apple Express Mode for our Opal ticketing systems. Express Mode for Apple Pay offers a more seamless experience with the ability to tap on and tap off with an Apple iPhone or watch without having to ‘unlock’ or authenticate it. This upgrade
means most users of Apple devices no longer unlock their device when tapping on and tapping off. By continuing to enhance the customer experience, TfNSW is leveraging technology and partnering with industry leaders, to improve a passenger’s end-to-end journey.
